Our story began with the transformation from JAPAN Fes, New York, one of the largest Japanese cultural events in the United States, into Umami Square. With the unfortunate suspension of the festival due to the pandemic, we recognized the urgent need to support Japanese artisans and foster a sense of community within the craft industry. Thus, Umami Square was born, as a platform dedicated to connecting lovers of Japanese culture with a diverse array of authentic crafts from across the country.
