1. Umami Square’s shipping rules and policies
  • At Umami Square, we prioritize delivering our products in optimal condition on the requested delivery date. While we take extensive measures to ensure the quality of our shipments, factors such as weather and transit delays may affect delivery times. Therefore, the shipping guidelines provided on this website are not guarantees of a specific shipping or arrival date.
  • We are unable to guarantee precise delivery times as they are subject to the discretion of local carriers. Most carriers deliver packages between 8 am and 8 pm. For time-sensitive orders, we recommend scheduling delivery 1-2 days before your event. In certain situations, we may expedite delivery to ensure product freshness, which could result in earlier-than-requested arrival times.
  • Umami Square is not liable for delays caused by high package volume, weather conditions, mechanical errors, strikes, natural disasters, or incomplete shipping information. We do not require signatures for package release, and leaving packages unattended is at the carrier's discretion.
  • Customers are responsible for verifying shipping information accuracy before submitting orders. Address modifications post-shipment are subject to a processing fee and may cause delivery delays, for which Umami Square is not accountable.
  • Returns, refunds, or cancellations are not permitted for shipped orders. All packages are shipped via UPS or FedEx and cannot be delivered to P.O. Box addresses.
2. Where does my order ship from?
  • Products on Umami Square are crafted, packed, and shipped from individual partner shops or facilities nationwide. Each partner is responsible for shipping their unique products, ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Some partners produce items fresh at their shops and transport them to distribution centers for nationwide shipping. Regular product refills at these centers guarantee continuous availability and freshness.
3. Can I ship to a P.O. box, or are there delivery restrictions?
  • Unfortunately, we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes. Umami Square delivers to residential addresses, businesses, venues, and apartment buildings. Shipping to USPS facilities, UPS, or FedEx distribution centers is not recommended.
  • For shipments to hotels, venues, or public centers, include recipient and location names in the address. It's advisable to notify the destination of an incoming perishable shipment. Umami Square is not responsible for refused packages at venues.
  • For business deliveries, be mindful of operating hours. While carriers strive to deliver during business hours, precise delivery times cannot be guaranteed.
4. Does Umami Square ship overseas?
  • Currently, we only ship within the domestic United States and do not ship to Puerto Rico. Some partners may ship non-perishable items to APO/FPO addresses upon inquiry.
5. How long will it take to receive a shipment?
  • Delivery times vary depending on the food maker and product availability. Estimated delivery dates and shipping costs are provided at checkout after entering the shipping address.
  • COVID-related delays may occur due to high demand or temporary shipping pauses by food makers. Customers will receive tracking information via email once packages are handed over to the carrier.
6. How is my food packed and shipped?
  • Every item on Umami Square is handmade, packed, and shipped according to its specific requirements to ensure freshness upon delivery. Product pages provide instructions on preparation or consumption, and our Food Concierge team at support@umamisquare.com can address any inquiries.
7. Why can't I ship Umami Square's fresh produce products to my address?
  • Due to Arizona and California agriculture laws, shipping fresh produce to these states is prohibited. Orders shipping to these locations will be canceled and refunded.
8. Do I have to be home to sign for the package when it's delivered?
  • Most packages do not require signatures upon delivery. However, we recommend promptly storing refrigerated items after delivery. Umami Square is not responsible for damages due to delayed or improper storage.
9. Package to be delivered by a specific time, how to arrange this?
  • While we lack control over delivery times once packages are with carriers, FedEx and UPS offer flexible delivery scheduling via their respective platforms. Customers can manage delivery preferences to ensure convenience.
10. Why won't the driver just leave the package at my door?
  • The decision to leave packages unattended is at the driver's discretion. Customers should arrange for someone to receive and store packages, especially for perishable items. Additional COVID-19 precautions may affect delivery procedures.
11. Non-delivery due to absence of required person at home
  • Customers must inform recipients of pending deliveries. While most packages do not require signatures, carriers may withhold delivery if deemed unsafe. Umami Square is not liable for damaged products due to failed deliveries.
12. My order was not delivered on the scheduled arrival date
  • Despite efforts to ensure timely delivery, unforeseen circumstances may cause delays beyond our control. Umami Square is not responsible for transit delays or inaccuracies in shipping information. Delivery dates are estimates, subject to carrier policies and external factors.
