A Legacy of Innovation and Tradition

Founded by Takeo Tatsumiya, Tatsumiya Co., Ltd. has been an integral part of the Yamanaka lacquerware industry since its inception. Beginning with wooden lacquerware and transitioning to mass-produced plastic items after the war, we have continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the market.

Expanding Horizons

In the 1970s, we recognized the growing demand for wedding favors and gifts, leading us to expand our product range to include clocks, home appliances, and more. This expansion significantly contributed to the growth of the Yamanaka lacquerware industry, establishing Tatsumiya as a leader in the field.

Introducing HAKOYA: Redefining Bento Boxes

With the launch of our bento box brand, HAKOYA, we shifted our focus to design and functionality, capturing the hearts of customers both domestically and internationally. HAKOYA's brand concept, "Bento boxes are a form of communication," emphasizes the role of lunchboxes in fostering interpersonal connections within families, workplaces, and schools, spreading Japanese food culture globally.

Towards a Sustainable Future

As the world evolves, so do our values and priorities. Recognizing the importance of sustainability, our eco-friendly and reusable bento boxes play a crucial role in reducing food waste and promoting a more sustainable society. We believe that Japan's bento culture can contribute significantly to this endeavor.

Commitment to Craftsmanship and Community

While honoring the traditional craftsmanship of Yamanaka lacquerware, we remain committed to developing products that are not only useful but also contribute to society and the wider world. Our goal is to continue bridging tradition and innovation, enriching lives and communities along the way.
